An animal's immmediate surroundings are called its habitat.Within a habitat,there are many places where an animal can make its home.Some animals built permanent homes,while others only find places to shelter when they have young.

Building work

Animals can be amazingly skilled at building homes,making elaborat structures from all kinds of materials.Termites built huge mounds,6m(20ft)high,out of soil,saliva and droppings,while some bats can make tents out of leaves.These leaftents can last for up to a year.

Cup of coffee

There are over 1000 chemicals in a cup of coffee.Of these, only 26 have been tested and half caused cancer in rats.I am amazed about these and found out alot about coffee.Hope you will do some researching and learn more about these cool stuff.Bye

Volcanoes

A volcano erupts when hot,sticky rock from inside the Earth bursts through the surface.The hot rock,called lava,pours down the sides of the volcano and over the land.

A volcano may be active(alive),dormant(asleep)or extinct(dead).

A volcano that erupts quite often is called an active volcano.

A dormant volcano hasn't erupted for a long time,but may erupt in the future.

And an extinct volcano hasn't erupted for at least a million years.AndSome towns are built on extinct volcanoes.

In its ancient form, carrots were purple, not orange!

From as back as the 10th century, carrots grew in India, the Middle East and Europe, with it origins traced to Afghanistan. They were purple! There are even reports that as long ago as 2000BC, temple drawings from Egypt show a plant believed to be a purple carrot.

It was not until the 17th century that they turned orange when the Dutch growers favoured the colour orange, as used on their national flag.

Now, the purple carrot is back and will be sold in Britain's supermarkets.

Planet Pluto has exploded 2 years ago.Do you know that?Pluto exploded beacause it was too small!The first time we heard about it, we researched that Pluto was smaller than the earth!We heard it about it when we were just 4 years old.

death valley

Death valley is a very hot place if you want to camp there you need gallons of water!If you don't have enough water you may pass out.A scientist went to challenge death valley, he only brought 1 gallon of water and he passed out in just a few hours.He walked many miles and reapeted it two times and when he got to a more hot place he passed out, and other scientists found his body on the hot solid ground a few days later.Anyway I almost forgot it is called Death valley beacause anybody goes there will pass out in just a few hours!!!
